Was in town because of the Crowdstrike debacle at DTW airport, and my Lyft driver tipped me off to Mootz. A HUGE thank you for this recommendation!! There were plenty of options on the pizza side - I ordered a side salad and the 14" Sweet Attack. This was by far, one of the best pizzas I've eaten in a long time! Crispy crust w/ quality ingredients that produced a robust flavor. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxed. Good service from my server Cody and his team. Would definitely come back as there are some pasta dishes that I'd like to give a try. If you're downtown (think they call it midtown), stop by and give it a try.
I ordered pickup around 8:30pm. Took me a few mins to walk there and order was ready when I arrived. Ordered the Bee Sting. 5/5 Pizza has a soft chewy crust that reminds me of mochi texture. The tomato sauce was saucy. The pepperoni had a good slightly crisp texture and the basil and honey was a good touch. All the flavors combine into a really good slice of pizza. I'd come back again to try other pizzas if I came back to Detroit
Visiting from Texas and our resident daughter insisted we visit Mootz! What an absolute pleasure. The staff was not only friendly but joked around with us as well (she had a GREAT sense of humor!) I ordered a "personal" sized salad ... dear lordies a shareable size must be gigantic! It was filled with fresh and tasty ingredients and the dressing (dill?) was very complementary to the salad. Our group also ordered two pizzas that came out perfectly baked and HOT. The waitress mentioned one of our slices had been "lost" but would be made up. We sure couldn't tell as the plate was full of one of the best pizzas ever. Before we left, we were handed another full pizza to make up for the lost piece. Whaaa?? They went above and beyond to make our first visit a great one. No wonder our daughter and her family visit Mootz' on a regular basis.
So many options for all dietary restrictions. We had vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free in our party and they were able to accommodate all of us! Service was super fast! We got a few types of pizza all of which were amazing. The garlic knots were probably the best I've ever had! Fun ambience with lots of indoor and outdoor seating!
Excellent pizza! I heard from a friend that it's their favorite pizza place in Detroit and I had to check it out. The beast of burden was soooo good. The ricotta is perfect with the meat on top and I loved the crust too. Amazing vibes too and their drink menu seems reasonable, although I didn't have any. Definitely my favorite pizza place here!
LEGIT, of best Pizza I've ever had, it's so cliche to say such a statement, but it's real! We had the spicy Hawaiian, and a the bacon pesto pizza, along with two Caesar salads. The service was quick, the staff was friendly, I even ran into a good friend I hadn't seen in some time. MUST TRY GUYS!!!!
Very good pizza, the garlic knots are so fucking good , I'd sell my soul for those garlic knots , the ranch is probably the best thing i've ever tasted , very clean, music is nice and the ambiance is so calming and comforting. customer service is top tier.
We found Mootz last summer and decided to try it! What a great choice! The interior is sophisticated with a New York vibe. It's visually appealing and the seating is comfortable. (We ate inside but the outside seating was very appealing as well). Our server was wonderful. He was welcoming, gracious, attentive and helpful in making suggestions. We were well taken care of. And finally - the food. It was delicious! I'd checked out the offerings prior to our visit. First, we tried the Garlic Knots with dipping sauces appetizer. Fantastic! Then we decided to sample the pizzas. They come in two sizes. We each chose an individual, four-slice pizza and we each ordered something different so we could share the samples. None of us were crazy about thin-crusts but these were perfect! One order was all cheese, one featured mozzarella and one highlighted pepperoni. All were good but I really loved my Bronx, pepperoni! So-o-o good! We very much recommend Mootz. And, we're going back!
I go downtown all the time but I've never been to mootz. We arrived at noon on a Sunday. There weren't many people inside yet, they had just opened. The restaurant was very nice, and clean inside. Our server was very friendly and greeted us quickly. We got the meatballs and garlic knots as an app. I wasn't expecting the garlic knots to be as good as they were. Typically most places who make garlic knots are just a piece of bread but these had great flavor. I got the frank pesto personal pizza, crust was crispy and cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back!
Excellent pizza! Toya provided amazing service. She's so kind, funny, energetic and gave great recommendations. We started with garlic knots and cheese bread, with sides of marinara and ranch. There was a special on alcohol shots so we had a round of fun shots. We shared two pizzas. The Bee Sting is amazing! Old world pepperoni, mozzarella, basil and hot honey. The perfect amount of spice. The Beast of Burden has pepperoni, sausage, and a variety of cheeses. Cool art!! I loved the ambiance. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Very clean unisex one stall bathrooms. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
